Continuation of Biography: PART 4

In the 'seventies' I was songwriting with CLIFF HALL a wonderful piano player & friend!

He was, apart from other things at that time in CLIFF
RICHARD's band & later on to be one of the SHADOWS
for many years to come! Which lead me to flying to NEW
YORK (America for the first of many times) to talk to publishers/artists about our songs!

Thats when my association with the BBC started so,
although intending to stay in the 'States' I returned to
what turned out to be a lot of work!

I shall probably go back & forwards with some, I hope,
interesting stories so, please stick with me! Around
'76 I was recording "demos" as previously mentioned,
this time for LEEDS MUSIC (publishers) when they
came up with a great song called "YOUNG LOVERS
(once again)"( this was written by French composers - REVAUX/SARDOU/DELANCE who wrote the
original music to MY WAY ) and lyrics by English
song writer KEN BARNES.

I loved the song but they wanted to give it to TONY BENNETT. It was decided somewhere along the way that he didn't really sell 'singles' rather than 'Albums' so Legendary producer JOHNNY FRANZ ( who made stars out of SHIRLEY BASSEY/SCOTT WALKER & WALKER BROTHERS etc.,) heard the demo & said the only man for the job was yours truly!

I was over the moon, not only for the song but to be working with JOHN ! I was then signed to PHILIPS records & recorded that song with the wonderful PETER KNIGHT and his orchestra & many other new songs.

This was to be an exciting new future for me especially as Johnny Franz wrote in a Music Publication that "Colin Anthony would be the next big international singing star"

Unfortunately, shortly after the release and many Radio plays & "live" appearances of "Young Lovers" Johnny Franz sadly died.
Along with the record !!

I'm sorry to tell you sad & hard luck stories but thats the way it is I'm afraid.
